It's the most wonderful time of the year!

We moved into our new home a little less than four months ago and I couldn't wait to decorate for Christmas. It's our second home, but our first with a fireplace and I have been dreaming of stringing garland over the mantle since we put the offer on the house! Since this house has such tall ceilings we decided that we were going to do a real Christmas tree, which meant we had to wait until after Thanksgiving to put up our tree (mostly because I can't keep something alive for 2 months). First thing Friday morning we went out to Shipley's Tree Farm and picked out the MOST perfect tree.

We got it all up in the stand and slowly started decorating. 2017 has been the year of Joanna Gaines, especially with her new line being introduced in Target. I knew I wanted the galvanized tree collar from the Hearth & Hand collection to put the finishing touches on our tree. I went to Target on Thursday night to join in on the Black Friday craziness and grab some toys for the kids, but the tree collars were all sold out. So, I checked Walmart and they had some similar tree collars but they only had red, because they had sold out of the galvanized too.

Galvanized Metal Tree Collar - Hearth & Hand™ with Magnolia

I shrugged it off in hopes that they would have more in stock soon. I checked each time we were at Walmart and each time they only had red. Finally, I got the genius idea to just paint the red one. I knew that I could buy the "hammered" look in spray paint, that would hopefully give it the galvanized look I was going for. I threw the red one in the cart and grabbed a couple of cans of spray paint!

I tried to get a picture of how the "hammered" finish really gives it that galvanized look.

I really love how it turned out and I only spent $22 for the collar and the paint! Also, it beats having to check the garden section each week when I'm at Walmart in hopes that they'll have a silver one!
